About

The nature of this blog is two-fold.

On the one hand, it’s an opportunity to blog about my attempt to return to academia after a long hiatus. What’s more, I’m switching from the Arts and Humanities to Social Sciences, so it’s even more of a challenge.

On the other, it’s a place to process, discuss and store my thoughts surrounding my proposed area of research: the impact of community bike projects and their need for more investment.

As I prepare to submit my PhD proposal, I’m immersing myself into the world of Social Sciences: current research, methodologies, and cross-disciplinary opportunities.

I’ll be using this space to process my findings, write up my thoughts, and develop my approach.

It is also a personal space for me to discuss my experience. The return to academia is not an easy one, and I’m sure there will be plenty of venting frustration, lamenting lost years and occasionally celebrating mini-successes.

Whether you’re interested in bikes, community development, or academia in general, feel free to join me for this ride.
